In daily life, silicone cookware is used by more and more families because of its safety, softness, high temperature resistance and chemical stability. Many people are confused about how to choose silicone cookware, the following shares my experience.

1、What is silicone?

Silicone is an inorganic polymer colloidal material, the main component is silicon dioxide, its chemical molecular formula is mSiO2-nH2O, a simple understanding can be considered a substance between synthetic rubber and synthetic plastic.

Our common silica gel has: industrial grade silica gel, food grade silica gel, medical grade silica gel. Industrial grade silicone is catalyzed by organic tin, which will have some pungent smell, while food grade silicone and medical grade silicone do not have any smell. The silicone kitchenware we use basically belongs to food grade silicone.

2、Silicone cookware is safe?

Food grade silicone is insoluble in water and other solvents, non-toxic and tasteless, does not react with any substance except strong alkali and hydrofluoric acid, and is extremely stable chemically. The use temperature is between -40℃~230℃, there is no international report that food-grade silicone is harmful to human body, it is still very safe.

3、What are the advantages of silicone cookware?

High safety: non-toxic and tasteless, safe and healthy

Soft and non-invasive pots and pans: soft texture, not easy to deform.

Long service life: good stability, can be used for a long time.

High and low temperature resistance: can be used between -40 ℃ ~ 230 ℃, can be placed in the microwave oven or oven to use.

Good anti-mildew: no mildew even if placed for a long time.

Easy to clean: easy to clean, good care.

4、Spatula type silicone cookware types and processes.

There are 8 types of common silicone kitchenware: spatula, rice spatula, soup spoon, spoon, noodle, food clip, egg beater, oil brush.

In addition, there are also mats, bowls, gloves, etc.

Silicone itself is relatively soft, so usually need to build a hard core material, common: stainless steel, hard plastic. Stainless steel core material is good.

1. Can the remnants of silicone cookware be rebuilt?

Answer: No, once the silicone cookware products are processed and shaped, it will be irreversible.

2. Silicone itself is odorless, why do some silicone cookware have a pungent smell?

Answer: The production process of silicone requires the use of a catalyst called “vulcanizing agent”, some manufacturers use inferior vulcanizing agent to save costs, resulting in the generation of products with a greater odor, some advanced silicone cookware will use the second vulcanization for filtering, so that the production of products basically do not smell odor.

3. Why some silicone cookware will be yellow and sticky after a period of time?

Silicone surface has electrostatic adsorption, easy to adsorb dust particles in the air, manufacturers will spray a layer of feel oil on the surface, so basically will not stick to the dust. Many manufacturers will also add anti-yellowing agents to the raw materials in the production process to prevent the silicone from yellowing.
